Painting Mistakes

I made the mistake last week of thinking that I could do my own paint job on my new house. I was trying to save money, seeing as my wife spent so much money on furniture and what not, but I’ve actually ended up costing us more.

I started by painting the exterior of my house and I did the entire first coat before my wife told me she thought it didn’t look good. I thought the second coat would look better so I went ahead and did it, and as it turned out, I’m not going to be winning any awards for being the best house painter in Melbourne. In fact, I may never be allowed to use a paint brush again after this.

My wife screamed at the top of her lungs when she came outside the next day to see the second coat. She said it looked ugly and patchy before she started crying. Once she cried, I couldn’t understand a word she was saying. The only thing I needed to know was that it wasn’t good. I think through all her blubbering I heard the word divorce dropped into conversation and that’s when I knew that I was about to spend a serious amount of money on a residential painter. Melbourne painters are talented, much more talented than me obviously, but with talent comes cost. I can barely afford that cost, but I also can’t afford to lose my wife.

I think I’m going to have to take out another loan so that we can afford to spend more money on the house. I love my wife but she spends a lot of my money. She loves me though so I let it slide because I want to make her happy and make sure that she keeps loving me.

Being married is tough. If I have any life advice, it’s to not do any important paint jobs on your own.
